Those Were the Days (2000)

This prequel to the YOUNG AND DANGEROUS series covers the early life of the character Chicken and his first love. While Chicken works his way up through the Triad organization, Gee struggles to make the most of her life as she strives to leave poverty behind, and both characters come to terms with their feelings for each other.
